Sassoferrato | The Virgin and Child Embracing.

Saint Joseph is visible in the landscape seen in the left background, beyond the Virgin and Christ Child.
The design is based closely on an etching by Guido Reni, who was a major influence on Sassoferrato. The picture is likely to be a late work and possibly it was among a group of pictures in Sassoferrato's studio at his death.
